Liz & Brett had a gorgeous Monday morning wedding.
News 4 Jax features a slideshow and video in case you missed it.
We’ll post a blog up as soon as we get photos back from Pure Sugar Studios!
It was a REALLY great wedding.
The flowers were yellow roses, ivory stock, white Dendrobium Orchids and yellow Alstromeria. Her bouquet was stunning and had white mini callas, white roses, yellow roses, white stock. The style was very happy and bright, free flowing and very appropriate for a morning beach wedding
Here’s some of our behind the scene’s images from their big day and some of the feedback we’re already getting!
Bridget Armstrong: Absolutely STUNNING! You all outdid yourselves. Thank you for adding to the beauty of my best friends wedding day.
Margaret Maltby: I cannot say enough about “A Fantasy in Flowers” They went above and beyond our wildest dreams. The most beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much Susan and .
Debi Tillis: Just beautiful! I love how the centerpieces were designed where you could still see through them. Thank you for making my Liz’s wedding spectacular!

We were on News 4 Jax this week talking about flowers with our sweet couple Liz & Brett. They are getting married this coming Monday at the Serenata Beach Club!
(Our lovely Amy making a mock bouquet for the couple.)
This is the fifth annual contest and we are happy to be apart of it this year.

We’ll post photos from the wedding and the video from News 4 Jax as soon as we can!

Did you miss the announcement on our Facebook page? We were on Junebug Weddings this week!
We love working with a talented group of professionals and loved the article (click the link above) and all the photos!
One of the best parts of the article was where they asked the bride for her advice for other brides. We SOOOO agree!
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? If you’re not a natural party planner and your budget allows it, get a wedding planner! I didn’t, but I think that’s my only regret from the whole process. My stress level was through the roof during much of the wedding process and I think the extra expense would have been completely worth it.

Such a beautiful ceremony! Loved the flowers in the metal tins lining the aisle way.

Margy & Dave got married 2/23/13 at the Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club.
They used black and white as well as a lot of damask for their colors and theme.
We asked Margy to tell us about her wedding and she shared these snippets and photos with us.
His proposal?
He recreated our first date and proposed at the first place we kissed.

What was the best part of your wedding?
Having my friends and family all in one place, over 50% of my guest were from out of town like Texas, NY, Louisiana and South Carolina so this doesn’t happen too often.

Margy originally called another florist in town but was put off by the phone call, so we asked her why she chose A Fantasy in Flowers.
I called Susan, at A Fantasy in Flowers, and she immediately made me feel warm, welcome and comfortable.
After having my consultation with Amy, I felt like she was reading my mind. Not only did she listen and give me every detail of what I was asking for but she was also very creative and conscious of my budget. I told her exactly what I wanted and she gave exactly that and more for the price point I was wanting.
All my other friends were disappointed with their florist but not me, I was very happy. Anytime I needed anything Susan was there for me she answered all of my questions and helped me keep everything on budget.

What tips would you give others planning a wedding?
USE FANTASY IN FLOWERS TO START!!! They know a lot of local vendors and can help you along the way.
Anything else you want to add?
Thank you Susan and Amy for making my day beautiful!
Thank you to Gary, with Naturally Photography for photos from Margy & Dave’s wedding with our flowers.

We got the chance to do two gorgeous photo shoots at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens this year. Besides the Wildly in Love/Animal Print “wedding” we also did a peacock inspired shoot/mock wedding, which we featured on our blog a couple of months ago.
Several popular wedding websites have since picked up the images and run with them.
We love the text for Time to Drink Champagne‘s intro to the shoot!
“You may be forgiven for thinking that this simply won’t work. I thought much the same when I saw the title for this submission from Christy Whitehead Photography but once you set eyes on the pictures you will realise very quickly that it does work and in fact, it’s pretty darn awesome.
I think the colour scheme and the feathers in the bouquet are inspired. However, it doesn’t stop there; there are details galore in this shoot and the hardest part has been deciding which pictures to show you.”

Be U Weddings said:
“Peacock feathers are making an appearance on everything from wedding fashion to dècor these days. So how can you tastefully incorporate this playful, yet elegant look into your special day? Take cues from this brilliantly bold wedding shoot at the Jacksonville Zoo, captured by the talented Christy Whitehead Photography. Turquoise and fuchsia tones look stunning with crisp white accents. Many of the DIY accessories, such as the glasses and jewelry, were handcrafted by Etsy artisans.
In need of more peacock wedding theme inspiration? Check out these stylish ideas from The Knot and Pinterest.”

Bride and Joy also picked it up, check out their link for more photos.
Local blog The Jacksonville Bride also picked up the images and ran with them.
Weddingstar wrote a nice blog about the shoot as well, you can see it at their website.
There is a video for the shoot at http://youtu.be/WIUIz5V72_k.

We loved this couple and had so much fun pulling together the flowers for their November 3rd wedding at Fruit Cove Baptist church with reception at St. Johns Golf and Country Club.
They met at church where they both volunteer in student ministry.
We have to share this photo of Kelli at WORK! She is a dolphin trainer at SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove.
“I help take care of and train 44 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins,” Kelli says. “And I guide dolphin swims for guests that come to our park.”
Her husband Ryan works for Ring Power renting out equipment for construction and such, but that doesn’t sound nearly as much fun to us as swimming with the dolphins!
Here’s what Kelli tells us about the proposal:
His proposal was perfect. He proposed at our Tuesday night middle school ministry. A couple weeks prior, our friend Cheez (one of the other volunteers, he runs all of the skits and games) asked Ryan and I to do a skit called “the comforting couch.”
Basically the idea was for Ryan and I to stand up and start arguing in the audience. Cheez will then pop his head through a couch on stage..so his head is between the cushions..and call us up so he can resolve our argument. We agreed to do the skit, and a week prior Ryan decided he would propose during the skit.
Here’s the video of his proposal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTXOx3Pp9VI
The flowers were stargazer lilies, magenta stock, hot pink Gerber daiseys and hot pink roses.

Kelli’s mom Ginger was very involved and hands on in the planning and she did an amazing job.

We worked really well with Amanda the wedding coordinator at St. Johns and she was fabulous. We appreciated all her hard work. They had flowers every where!! Check out these wreaths on the door at the church…
And then we made these huge floral initials to go on the door at the St. Johns. They really pulled everything together and made their wedding more custom and individual.
Our designer, Amy, makes awesome throw bouquets for our brides here is a pic of Kelli getting ready to throw hers.
What was the best part of your wedding?
Celebrating with our amazing families and friends and of course with each other as husband and wife.
Is there any advice you would give to another bride who is planning her own wedding?
Don’t stress about the little details. It will all come together and on the big day you won’t be worrying about all those little things that you thought were such a huge deal during the planning. Come up with a list of the top 5 things that are most important to you for your wedding and focus most of your energy and budget on that. On the day of, with your husband, take a second to look around at all the people who love you and came to celebrate with you. Just relax and enjoy this happy time!
What Kelli says about her flowers and choosing A Fantasy in Flowers:
Gerber Daisies are my favorite flower and I knew I had to incorporate them. Pink is my favorite color so that had to be in there as well…even though it was a fall wedding.
Fantasy in Flowers was the first florist I went to and I was immediately sold. I wanted to incorporate pink but didn’t want it to be an overload. I showed them a couple photos and felt like my vision was immediately understood. The day of my wedding I was blown away at how perfect the flowers were. It was exactly as I had wanted and described!

For their honeymoon they went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica to the Sandals Grande Riviera. Kelli says it was amazing!
We wish them the best in their new life together!

Earlier this year we had the priviledge of working with a ton of great local wedding vendors to do a shoot at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.

Photos from the shoot appeared recently on the Weddzilla blog:
“This zoo themed wedding is really one of a kind. It incorporates zaney animal prints, animal figurines and many DIY wedding extras that will have wildly inspired.
This wedding really celebrates all that nature has to offer with zebra and giraffe print decoration, zesty orange shades and earthy green and browns/ You really do have to see it to believe it, but it totally works!
This wild and in love Florida wedding photo shoot took place in Jacksonville, Florida and has been submitted by Christy at Christy Whitehead Photography along with the help of a huge team of wedding experts.”

This shoot was also featured on FAByouBliss
““Wildly in Love”…isn’t that the cutest title for this animal theme styled wedding shoot? And the shoot itself is absolutely adorable as well.
Christy of Christy Whitehead Photography and event designer Tanya Hendricks of Southern Charm Weddings & Events thought it was crazy that no real couple had put together an animal themed wedding at the Jacksonville Zoo. So they put one together to show how awesome the idea could be. And boy did they run with it!
To get the look she wanted, Christy covered suspenders in animal print and made the bow ties for the men which were SUPER easy. She also made the table runners, which again were so easy to make! And she made the giraffe and zebra cake topper. Many of the other elements were purchased via Etsy and since the bride and groom models had previously worked together, their chemistry was already through the roof!
Again…what a brilliant idea to combine and animal themed shoot with a zoo venue. I think a real wedding like this would be spectacular!”

Christy Whitehead, Tanya Hendricks and Lauren Atwaters did an excellent job pulling this shoot together and creating one of a kind looks. We couldn’t be happier with how this turned out and always love working with local professionals.
