Margy & Dave’s Ponte Vedra Lodge Wedding — Florida Wedding Florist

Margy & Dave got married 2/23/13 at the Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club.

They used black and white as well as a lot of damask for their colors and theme.

We asked Margy to tell us about her wedding and she shared these snippets and photos with us.

His proposal?

He recreated our first date and proposed at the first place we kissed.

What was the best part of your wedding?

Having my friends and family all in one place, over 50% of my guest were from out of town like Texas, NY, Louisiana and South Carolina so this doesn’t happen too often.

Margy originally called another florist in town but was put off by the phone call, so we asked her why she chose A Fantasy in Flowers.

I called Susan, at A Fantasy in Flowers, and she immediately made me feel warm, welcome and comfortable.

After having my consultation with Amy, I felt like she was reading my mind. Not only did she listen and give me every detail of what I was asking for but she was also very creative and conscious of my budget. I told her exactly what I wanted and she gave exactly  that and more for the price point I was wanting.

All my other friends were disappointed with their florist but not me, I was very happy. Anytime I needed anything Susan was there for me she answered all of my questions and helped me keep everything on budget.

What tips would you give others planning a wedding?

USE FANTASY IN FLOWERS TO START!!! They know a lot of local vendors and can help you along the way.

Anything else you want to add?

Thank you Susan and Amy for making my day beautiful!

Thank you to Gary, with Naturally Photography for photos from Margy & Dave’s wedding with our flowers.

Coach Post Holiday Party, Omni Hotel – Jacksonville Florist

This is an annual appreciation party for the employees of Coach as their corporate headquaters is located in Jax. They have the party after the holiday season and we are always happy to be apart of it.

This is the 6th year we have been their florist and we have followed them through 4 venues – First Hyatt Regency, 2 years at Marriott JTB, 2 years Crown Plaza Downtown and now the Omni. Which by the way, was recently renovated, and looks fantastic!

There were 320 attendees, and we did the flowers for 35 tables and some large buffet center pieces.

The theme is appreciation and they always look for something clean and minimalistic in design which reflects the identity of Coach.

We are proud and honored to have worked with them again this year and hope to work with them for many more years.

Thank you to Christy Whitehead Photography for taking these photos of our centerpieces. If you are looking for a corporate event or wedding photographer, contact her at her website.

Peacock Styled Wedding

We got the chance to do two gorgeous photo shoots at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens this year. Besides the Wildly in Love/Animal Print “wedding” we also did a peacock inspired shoot/mock wedding, which we featured on our blog a couple of months ago.

Several popular wedding websites have since picked up the images and run with them.

We love the text for Time to Drink Champagne‘s intro to the shoot!

“You may be forgiven for thinking that this simply won’t work. I thought much the same when I saw the title for this submission from Christy Whitehead Photography but once you set eyes on the pictures you will realise very quickly that it does work and in fact, it’s pretty darn awesome.

I think the colour scheme and the feathers in the bouquet are inspired. However, it doesn’t stop there; there are details galore in this shoot and the hardest part has been deciding which pictures to show you.”

Be U Weddings said:

“Peacock feathers are making an appearance on everything from wedding fashion to dècor these days. So how can you tastefully incorporate this playful, yet elegant look into your special day? Take cues from this brilliantly bold wedding shoot at the Jacksonville Zoo, captured by the talented Christy Whitehead Photography. Turquoise and fuchsia tones look stunning with crisp white accents. Many of the DIY accessories, such as the glasses and jewelry, were handcrafted by Etsy artisans.

In need of more peacock wedding theme inspiration? Check out these stylish ideas from The Knot and Pinterest.”

Bride and Joy also picked it up, check out their link for more photos.

Local blog The Jacksonville Bride also picked up the images and ran with them.

Weddingstar wrote a nice blog about the shoot as well, you can see it at their website.

There is a video for the shoot at http://youtu.be/WIUIz5V72_k.

Flowers Fit for a Queen posted 6/6/2012

I went to them with a vision of a royal wedding. We went with simply elegant for the church and grand for the reception venue. Everything was beautiful. The ladies are very easy to work with and will stay true to your budget. They also have an artist on the staff that created a royal crest for my husband and I. It is now hanging in our foyer! Love…

A Perfect Vintage Wedding    posted 3/4/2012

A Fantasy in Flowers in St. Augustine did an amazing job for our wedding. Amy, our florist, captured everything I had envisioned. We did a vintage wedding and the flowers we chose were absolutely perfect!!! I could not have asked for anything more.

Amy was very nice to work with as well, as many of our meetings were over the phone and through email. I told her what I wanted and she said no worries. I also appreciated the fact that Amy was able to work with all of the things we provided. My mother and I collected tea pots, cups, bottles, and mason jars for our decor. We brought all of it to Amy and she put just the right flowers in just the right places. She also used the vintage books we brought and staged the tables just like we wanted.

When I walked in to our reception area I was in shock at how beautiful everything turned out. The flowers for the wedding party, parents, and grandparents were wonderful as well. I’m so glad we used A Fantasy in Flowers!!! They made our wedding that much more perfect and Amy’s expertise helped so much!

Nothing short of AMAZING    posted 8/9/2012

OMG, Amy is absolutely amazing. She knows her flowers! I just “said” what I wanted and voila, it was reality! She was very patient and every time I made a change/added to my order, Susan was right on top of it to make sure Amy had it. I can’t say enough about them!

Above and beyond!!    posted 7/6/2011

Amy D. from A Fantasy in Flowers is an absolute floral genius. But let me start from the beginning. I was torn between two florists after seeing them both at a wedding show. Admittedly I was leaning toward the other florist because we hit it off so well at the show, but when I began requesting estimates from both places, AFIF was a rockstar. Within 48 hours I had a mock invoice listing multiple items, the specific flowers envisioned, and estimated costs. And from there, the customer service got even better.

I started off with just the bouquets, boutonnieres, and two big outdoor arrangements because I was at the time certain that I’d be making my own centerpieces with candles and bulk-ordered online flowers because “I’d save money” and “they’d be original.” First of all, that is erroneous on both counts. After adding up all of the supplies for my original centerpieces, I was only saving about $5-10 per centerpiece, and the stress/work involved was NOT worth a savings of perhaps two or three hundred bucks. Trust me.

Secondly, and let me repeat, Amy at AFIF is a genius; plus, let’s be honest, yours (if you’re like me) will end up looking super amateur anyway. Don’t go all elegant/whimsy/wow-factor on every other detail of the wedding and then botch the flowers. Plus, I must have exchanged 2 dozen emails with Susan adding/changing/deleting things and she was always sweet and accommodating.

I did not go to them with specific flower demands like ONLY YELLOW PEONIES!! because that is a recipe for disaster. All I told Amy was the feel I was going for, and what my inspiration was, which was “Old Florida.” I may have even used the term “elegant … swamp.” Either way, she got the gist and ran with it and created the most stunning, unforgettable, rave-worthy bouquets, centerpieces, and fireplace mantle I have ever seen.

MANY guests came up to me with “that is the most beautiful bouquet/idea/arrangement I have ever seen.” Best of all, Amy new I was on a tight budget, and made it all happen by using affordable flowers and lots and lots of greenery. I had 12 centerpieces, two outdoor pieces, 1 smaller piece for sign-in table, 6 bouquets, a throw bouquet, 9 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, and a mantle for a little over $2k. AFIF is a bride’s dream.

Thank you to all of you lovely ladies for leaving your feedback!

While we no longer advertise on The Knot, you can see our (29 awesome) reviews on their sister site, The Wedding Channel.

Kelli & Ryan are married

We loved this couple and had so much fun pulling together the flowers for their November 3rd wedding at Fruit Cove Baptist church with reception at St. Johns Golf and Country Club.

They met at church where they both volunteer in student ministry.

We have to share this photo of Kelli at WORK! She is a dolphin trainer at SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove.

“I help take care of and train 44 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins,” Kelli says. “And I guide dolphin swims for guests that come to our park.”

Her husband Ryan works for Ring Power renting out equipment for construction and such, but that doesn’t sound nearly as much fun to us as swimming with the dolphins!

Here’s what Kelli tells us about the proposal:

His proposal was perfect. He proposed at our Tuesday night middle school ministry. A couple weeks prior, our friend Cheez (one of the other volunteers, he runs all of the skits and games) asked Ryan and I to do a skit called “the comforting couch.”

Basically the idea was for Ryan and I to stand up and start arguing in the audience. Cheez will then pop his head through a couch on stage..so his head is between the cushions..and call us up so he can resolve our argument. We agreed to do the skit, and a week prior Ryan decided he would propose during the skit.

Here’s the video of his proposal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTXOx3Pp9VI

The flowers were stargazer lilies, magenta stock, hot pink Gerber daiseys and hot pink roses.

Kelli’s mom Ginger was very involved and hands on in the planning and she did an amazing job.

We worked really well with Amanda the wedding coordinator at St. Johns and she was fabulous. We appreciated all her hard work. They had flowers every where!! Check out these wreaths on the door at the church…

And then we made these huge floral initials to go on the door at the St. Johns. They really pulled everything together and made their wedding more custom and individual.

Our designer, Amy, makes awesome throw bouquets for our brides here is a pic of Kelli getting ready to throw hers.

What was the best part of your wedding?

Celebrating with our amazing families and friends and of course with each other as husband and wife.

Is there any advice you would give to another bride who is planning her own wedding?

Don’t stress about the little details. It will all come together and on the big day you won’t be worrying about all those little things that you thought were such a huge deal during the planning. Come up with a list of the top 5 things that are most important to you for your wedding and focus most of your energy and budget on that. On the day of, with your husband, take a second to look around at all the people who love you and came to celebrate with you. Just relax and enjoy this happy time!

What Kelli says about her flowers and choosing A Fantasy in Flowers:

Gerber Daisies are my favorite flower and I knew I had to incorporate them. Pink is my favorite color so that had to be in there as well…even though it was a fall wedding.

Fantasy in Flowers was the first florist I went to and I was immediately sold. I wanted to incorporate pink but didn’t want it to be an overload. I showed them a couple photos and felt like my vision was immediately understood. The day of my wedding I was blown away at how perfect the flowers were. It was exactly as I had wanted and described!

For their honeymoon they went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica to the Sandals Grande Riviera. Kelli says it was amazing!

We wish them the best in their new life together!

Wildly in Love!

Earlier this year we had the priviledge of working with a ton of great local wedding vendors to do a shoot at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.

Photos from the shoot appeared recently on the Weddzilla blog:

“This zoo themed wedding is really one of a kind. It incorporates zaney animal prints, animal figurines and many DIY wedding extras that will have wildly inspired.

This wedding really celebrates all that nature has to offer with zebra and giraffe print decoration, zesty orange shades and earthy green and browns/ You really do have to see it to believe it, but it totally works!

This wild and in love Florida wedding photo shoot took place in Jacksonville, Florida and has been submitted by Christy at Christy Whitehead Photography along with the help of a huge team of wedding experts.”

This shoot was also featured on FAByouBliss

““Wildly in Love”…isn’t that the cutest title for this animal theme styled wedding shoot? And the shoot itself is absolutely adorable as well.

Christy of Christy Whitehead Photography and event designer Tanya Hendricks of Southern Charm Weddings & Events thought it was crazy that no real couple had put together an animal themed wedding at the Jacksonville Zoo. So they put one together to show how awesome the idea could be. And boy did they run with it!

To get the look she wanted, Christy covered suspenders in animal print and made the bow ties for the men which were SUPER easy. She also made the table runners, which again were so easy to make! And she made the giraffe and zebra cake topper. Many of the other elements were purchased via Etsy and since the bride and groom models had previously worked together, their chemistry was already through the roof!

Again…what a brilliant idea to combine and animal themed shoot with a zoo venue. I think a real wedding like this would be spectacular!”

Jacksonville Rotary Club 100th Anniversary Gala

We could not help but share these awesome photos from the Jacksonville Rotary Club 100th Anniversary Gala at the Hyatt. We are in LOVE with the uplighting. Look at that color! Brides, can you imagine having your wedding photos with that pop of color in the back! LOVE IT!

Look at how the lighting looks so gorgeous in the background between the blue up lighting and the sconces and chandeliers of the Hyatt. SOOOO elegant!

Thank you to Christy Whitehead Photography for taking a couple of table shots for us!

Peacock inspiration shoot — North Florida wedding and event florist

We are super excited and head over heels in love with this photo shoot we participated in at the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens.

This was a peacock inspired wedding shoot. Peacock is hot right now, and we are in love with the colors and the many different looks you can create with it.

You can go really over the top dramatic with peacock feathers and bursts of color everywhere or you can go very subtle and elegant.

Tanya Hendricks, with Southern Charm Events, and Christy Whitehead, of Christy Whitehead Photography, really pulled together a nice, elegant and modern “wedding.”

Our favorite image from the shoot is above! This is in the Jaguar area at the Zoo. You will be seeing this image pop up in a lot of our advertising, it is such a romantic image!

We were originally supposed to have matching dresses for the “bridesmaids” but Bonny Bridal sent us two peacock toned dresses that were very similar in cut to each other. A lot of brides are choosing to have their bridesmaids wear similar but not the same dresses. And this is really a nice way to add some more color and perhaps allow each bridesmaid to let a bit of her own personality shine through.

And, our floral artist and painter extraordinaire Amy Dwarika painted the bride’s shoes.

Thank you to Visual Power Cinema for this video! And Christy Whitehead Photography for the photos.

Premier Bridal Show St. Augustine, Fl

We recently attended the Premier Bridal Show at the Renaissance Resort at the World Golf Village. We love this location, it’s so nice and well put together, one of our favorite bridal shows.

We had a huge corner booth. The bridal shows are a great way for us to show off different ideas for weddings, from bouquets to centerpieces. We were packed with brides looking at all the displays we did.

We had Gerri, of Put it on Canvas, print us a banner. She also does all of our canvases. She does EXCELLENT work and her color canvases are exceptional quality. Plus, the customer service is always great.

We did quite a few displays of flowers and petals on the floor. This is one area that sometimes gets overlooked, but it can be a very nice touch for a wedding or reception.

On the floor is our Best of Bride (Jacksonville Magazine) award plaque. Thank you to everyone who voted for us!

This type of centerpiece is great for reception tables. It not only adds height, texture and color, but the base area is open, allowing for a free flow of conversation amongst your guests.

The silvery white branches can be incorporated into centerpieces, or used around an alter. They add a very elegant woodsy and natural effect.

It was so nice meeting all of you at the bridal show!

Thank you to Christy Whitehead Photography, a wedding photographer in North Florida for capturing these shots for us.
